Transcript for FFR 258 – The World’s Greatest Wealth Transfer:

Over the next two decades, the U.S. will experience the largest transfer of wealth in history.

I’m Kristine Meyer and in this week’s Financial Flash Report I will take you through this monumental shift and what it means for generational wealth and its recipients.

According to Accenture, estimates suggest that $84 to $124 trillion will pass from older generations to heirs and charities. What may surprise many is that women are expected to inherit and control the majority of this wealth.

By 2030, women could hold nearly two-thirds of all U.S. wealth. Globally, women already control about a third of total wealth—a number that continues to rise each year according to the Bank of America Institute. Several trends are driving this moment:

  • Longevity: Women tend to outlive men by several years, making them the primary inheritors of spousal wealth.
  • Generational Change: Millennials and Gen Z women are more financially engaged than previous generations, opening investment accounts earlier and seeking advice sooner.
  • Focus on Purpose: Women often view wealth not just as security, but as a tool for improving quality of life and making a lasting impact.

While this shift creates incredible opportunities, it can also feel overwhelming. According to Investopedia, studies show that 84% of women don’t feel fully prepared to manage an inheritance and common concerns include:

  • Navigating complex estate structures and tax issues
  • Taking on financial responsibilities during times of grief or transition
  • Lacking confidence in long-term investment strategies

This is where a strong partnership with a financial advisor makes all the difference. An advisor can help by:

  • Clarifying the big picture: Explaining your assets, options, and opportunities in plain language
  • Providing stability in difficult times: Offering objective advice when emotions are high
  • Building long-term strategies: Ensuring your wealth supports your values, whether that means philanthropy, sustainable investing, or leaving a family legacy
  • Increasing confidence: Empowering you with financial knowledge and education along the way

This transfer of wealth isn’t just about numbers—it’s about empowerment. For women, it’s a chance to take the reins, align financial decisions with personal values, and create lasting impact for future generations. When women work with advisors they trust, they feel more confident, more prepared, and more in control of their financial future. As we love to say, knowledge is power. This is how our team of experts at Stiles Financial partner with all our clients, and the way we listen, ushers people into a new era of financial leadership with clarity, confidence, and purpose.

Thank for joining us this week’s Financial Flash, and we look forward to seeing you next time.
